Login stuck: clearing cookies and site data

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 5:38 PM

Can you log in to Yuki in a private or incognito window, but not in your regular browser window? Then your browser still has data from your previous Yuki login, and it's getting in the way of the new way of logging in.

Does this sound familiar?

It doesn't look the same in every browser, but the cause is always the same:

  • You enter your password, click Log in, and just get the same screen back — no error message.
  • You type in your 6-digit code and keep getting sent back to the previous step.
  • You get an error message that means nothing to you, like a 400 or 404.
  • You reach the second step, but nothing happens: no message, no field to fill anything in.
  • Your password is definitely correct, because a wrong password does give you a message saying so.

Test: open a private window and log in there. If it works there, this is your issue. Need to get to work right away? Stay in that private window, or use a different browser, until you've gone through the steps below.

Why does this happen?

When you log in, you're sent back and forth between the Yuki page and Visma's login system. Along the way, a cookie is stored that remembers your login.

If there's still an old cookie from your previous Yuki login, or your browser blocks that exchange, the cookie doesn't come through. The login then starts over, or gets stuck on an error message. A private window doesn't have that old data, which is why it works there.

In Google Chrome

  1. Open Yuki in Chrome and click the icon to the left of the address bar.
  2. Choose Cookies and site data and remove the data for this site.
  3. Close Chrome completely — all windows, not just the tab — and open it again.

Still not working? Allow third-party cookies for the two sites involved:

  1. Type chrome://settings/cookies in your address bar.
  2. Find the list of sites allowed to use third-party cookies and add: [.]visma.com and [.]yuki.be
  3. Close Chrome completely again and try once more.

In Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Yuki in Firefox and click the padlock to the left of the address bar.
  2. Choose Clear cookies and site data and confirm.
  3. Then click the shield icon to the left of the address bar and turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection for this site.
  4. Close Firefox completely and open it again.

In Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Yuki in Edge and click the padlock to the left of the address bar.
  2. Open Cookies and site permissions and remove the cookies for this site.
  3. Close Edge completely and open it again.

Still not working after that?

  • An extension. Privacy or ad blockers can block the same exchange. Temporarily disable your extensions and try again.
  • A managed workstation. If your IT admin rolls out browser settings, you may not be able to carry out these steps yourself. If the issue affects several colleagues at once, that's a strong sign this is the cause. Ask your IT admin to allow cookies for visma.com and yuki.be.

  • a screenshot of the error message, if you get one
  • whether it does work in a private window
